Pre-Purchase Inspection Terms & Conditions

1. **Scope of Inspection**

The inspection is non-invasive and visual only, covering accessible systems at the time of attendance. We inspect engines and generators, fuel, freshwater and waste systems, bilge systems and pumps, electrical systems (basic functional checks), steering and driveline components, and deck systems such as windlass and lighting. Areas that cannot be accessed or systems that cannot be operated at the time of inspection will not be included.

2. **Engine Inspection Limitations**

Engine assessments are general condition checks. We observe cold start, look at external condition (hoses, belts, mounts, corrosion), review service history where available, and observe running characteristics. We do not perform compression tests, internal inspections, removal of parts, heat exchanger or cooling system strip‑down, oil analysis, or any invasive testing. No guarantee is given as to internal condition or remaining life.

3. **Non-Invasive Nature of Service**

No dismantling, disassembly or specialist testing is undertaken unless separately quoted and agreed in writing. Hidden defects or latent faults may exist and are not detectable under this scope.

4. **No Warranty or Guarantee**

The report is an opinion based on a single visit. It is not a warranty, guarantee or certification of condition. Marine systems can fail at any time, including immediately after inspection.

5. **Failure During Testing**

Any failure, breakdown or damage occurring during testing is at the client’s risk. Auckland Marine Systems Ltd accepts no liability for damage or failure arising from normal, non‑invasive testing of systems. This includes engines or gearboxes failing during start‑up or running, pumps or hoses failing, electrical faults occurring when systems are energised and failure of aged or poorly maintained equipment. Testing is conducted using standard procedures, and any failure is deemed to result from the existing condition of the vessel. The client agrees to indemnify Auckland Marine Systems Ltd against claims arising from such failures.

6. **Limitation of Liability**

Liability is limited to the value of the inspection fee paid. We accept no liability for consequential loss, loss of use, loss of income, or repair costs arising after the inspection. We are not liable for faults not detected due to access limitations, time constraints or the non‑invasive scope.

7. **Client Responsibility**

A pre‑purchase inspection is only part of your due diligence. Additional specialist inspections (e.g. haul‑out survey, mechanical strip‑down, electrical testing) may be required. The decision to purchase the vessel is entirely the client’s responsibility.

8. **Access and Conditions**

The inspection is conducted based on access available at the time. Areas that are obstructed, sealed or inaccessible will not be dismantled. Systems that are not operational cannot be tested. Such limitations will be noted in the report.

9. **Reporting**

A written report will outline observations, identified issues, general condition assessment and recommendations for further investigation. Verbal comments made during inspection are informal only and not to be relied upon. The report is provided for the named client only and must not be relied upon by third parties without our written consent.

10. **Payment Terms**

Full payment of the inspection fee is required prior to release of the written report. Auckland Marine Systems Ltd reserves the right to withhold the report until payment has been received in full. Additional services such as travel, extended time or specialist testing will be invoiced accordingly.

11. **Estimates and Further Work**

This service does not include free quotations. Estimates, repair scopes or further investigation can be provided at additional cost and are indicative only.

12. **Pricing**

Inspection fees are charged on a per‑foot basis as agreed prior to attendance. Travel outside the Auckland area may incur additional charges.

13. **Sea Trial**

Sea trials are not included in the standard inspection and are charged at an hourly rate. The vessel must be fully insured and proof of insurance must be sighted prior to departure. All risks associated with the operation of the vessel during the sea trial are covered by the vessel’s insurance. Auckland Marine Systems Ltd accepts no liability for damage, injury or mechanical failure during a sea trial. If a skipper is required, additional charges will apply.

14. **Acceptance of Terms**

By engaging this service, the client confirms they understand and accept the non‑invasive nature of the inspection, acknowledge that the report is not a guarantee of condition, and agree to these terms and conditions in full.
